Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in India, the outbreak has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 254 people per km2 so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of COVID-19 cases has increased up to 147K today, Idukki still has the lowest number of cases and fatalities in the state of Kerala.
Ernakulam and Malappuram are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 603K and 568K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Wayanad and Kasaragod have the lowest count of COVID-19 positive people in Kerala. Together with the latter ones, Idukki’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
