The coronavirus outbreak, which began in China, has sickened more than 31,9M people worldwide and about 7,1M people in the U.S. New York state with its high population density of 93 people per mi2 (34 people per km2) has the largest number of positive cases. It now has more COVID-19 patients than any other state in the country.

As of today, New York had about 162K confirmed cases and a death toll of about 5,4K, according to the state’s official count. Furthermore, the infection rate per 100,000 population is around 3,5K that is the highest in the U.S. New York City and its suburban counties - Suffolk, Nassau, and Westchester counties - are responsible for the highest percentage of the statewide case count. It is considered that in a week the overall number of coronavirus patients in New York will reach 167K cases.

The state is the epicentre of the pandemic and the key things that the residents can do is stay home and practice social distancing to quell the spread of this invisible but strong enemy. You should be aware of your protection measures and the symptoms of coronavirus.
