Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 35 people per mi2 (14 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of COVID-19 cases has reached 5,3K today, Macon County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Alabama.

Jefferson County and Mobile County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 239K and 135K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Choctaw County and Greene County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in Alabama. Together with the latter ones, Macon County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your county has a low number of confirmed cases, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
