Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in India, the infection has hit all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 668 people per km2 so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of confirmed cases has increased up to 21K today, Nagapattinam still has the lowest number of cases and fatalities in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai and Coimbatore are the state's leaders in coronavirus patients with 555K and 247K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Perambalur and Ariyalur have the lowest count of coronavirus patients in Tamil Nadu. Together with the latter ones, Nagapattinam’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
