The population density in the county is 97 people per mi2 (37 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of coronavirus patients has risen up to 14K today, Franklin County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Massachusetts.

Middlesex County and Suffolk County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 417K and 258K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Nantucket County and Dukes County have the lowest count of COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts. Together with the latter ones, Franklin County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
