The population density in the county is 212 people per mi2 (82 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus patients has reached 13 today, Nantucket County still has the lowest number of cases and fatalities in the state of Massachusetts.
Middlesex County and Suffolk County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 437K and 268K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Dukes County and Franklin County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts. Together with the latter ones, Nantucket County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
