Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the outbreak has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 25 people per mi2 (9 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 1,3K today, Appanoose County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Iowa.

Polk County and Linn County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 59K and 21K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Adams County and Audubon County have the lowest number of confirmed cases in Iowa. Together with the latter ones, Appanoose County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your area has a low number of coronavirus cases, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
