Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has affected all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 17 people per mi2 (6 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total number of coronavirus patients has reached 1K today, Palo Alto County still has the lowest number of cases and fatal cases in the state of Iowa.
Polk County and Linn County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 58K and 21K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Adams County and Audubon County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in Iowa. Together with the latter ones, Palo Alto County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your county has a low number of confirmed cases, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
