Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the infection has hit all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 16 people per mi2 (6 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of COVID-19 cases has increased up to 664 today, Decatur County still has the lowest number of cases and fatal cases in the state of Iowa.

Polk County and Linn County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 59K and 22K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Adams County and Audubon County have the lowest number of COVID-19 positive people in Iowa. Together with the latter ones, Decatur County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your county has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
