Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 27 people per mi2 (10 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of confirmed cases has increased up to 224 today, Calhoun County still has the lowest number of cases and fatal cases in the state of West Virginia.
Kanawha County and Berkeley County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 12K and 9,6K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Webster County and Wirt County have the lowest count of COVID-19 cases in West Virginia. Together with the latter ones, Calhoun County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your region has a low number of confirmed cases, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
