Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 27 people per mi2 (11 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of COVID-19 cases has reached 2,7K today, Clay County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of West Virginia.

Kanawha County and Berkeley County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 59K and 45K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Wirt County and Calhoun County have the lowest number of confirmed cases in West Virginia. Together with the latter ones, Clay County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your area has a low number of confirmed cases, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
