The population density in the county is 76 people per mi2 (29 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus cases has risen up to 5,2K today, Morgan County still has the lowest count of cases and fatal cases in the state of West Virginia.
Kanawha County and Berkeley County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 59K and 45K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Wirt County and Calhoun County have the lowest number of COVID-19 positive people in West Virginia. Together with the latter ones, Morgan County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
