Since the first coronavirus patient was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 2 people per mi2 (1 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of coronavirus patients has increased up to 42 today, Sierra County still has the lowest number of cases and deaths in the state of New Mexico.

Bernalillo County and McKinley County are the state's leaders in coronavirus cases with 6,2K and 4,3K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while De Baca County and Harding County have the lowest count of coronavirus cases in New Mexico. Together with the latter ones, Sierra County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your region has a low number of COVID-19 cases, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
