Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the infection has affected all 50 states. However, some regions have managed to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 43 people per mi2 (17 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus cases has risen up to 2,6K today, Somerset County still has the lowest number of cases and deaths in the state of Maryland.

Prince George's County and Montgomery County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 84K and 70K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Kent County and Garrett County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in Maryland. Together with the latter ones, Somerset County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your region has a low number of COVID-19 cases, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
