The population density in the county is 43 people per mi2 (17 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of coronavirus cases has reached 6,2K today, Somerset County still has the lowest count of cases and fatal cases in the state of Maryland.
Montgomery County and Prince George's County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 246K and 229K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Kent County and Garrett County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in Maryland. Together with the latter ones, Somerset County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
