Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 180 people per mi2 (69 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus patients has increased up to 19K today, Salem County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of New Jersey.
Bergen County and Essex County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 327K and 292K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Cape May County and Warren County have the lowest count of confirmed cases in New Jersey. Together with the latter ones, Salem County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your region has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
