Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the outbreak has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 280 people per mi2 (110 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 43K today, Sussex County still has the lowest number of cases and fatal cases in the state of New Jersey.
Bergen County and Essex County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 304K and 275K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Salem County and Cape May County have the lowest number of COVID-19 positive people in New Jersey. Together with the latter ones, Sussex County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your region has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
