Since the first coronavirus patient was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 8 people per mi2 (3 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total number of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 581 today, Shannon County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Missouri.
St. Louis County and Jackson County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 96K and 37K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Worth County and Putnam County have the lowest count of COVID-19 positive people in Missouri. Together with the latter ones, Shannon County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your area has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
