Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 5 people per mi2 (2 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus patients has increased up to 837 today, Custer County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Colorado.
El Paso County and Denver County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 237K and 225K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Hinsdale County and Jackson County have the lowest count of confirmed cases in Colorado. Together with the latter ones, Custer County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your area has a low number of COVID-19 positive people, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
