Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has hit all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 48 people per mi2 (19 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of COVID-19 cases has increased up to 4,6K today, Gilchrist County still has the lowest count of cases and fatalities in the state of Florida.
Miami-Dade County and Broward County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 1,3M and 647K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Glades County and Liberty County have the lowest number of confirmed cases in Florida. Together with the latter ones, Gilchrist County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your region has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
