Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the outbreak has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 2 people per mi2 (1 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus patients has increased up to 388 today, Potter County still has the lowest count of cases and fatalities in the state of South Dakota.
Minnehaha County and Pennington County are the state's leaders in coronavirus cases with 31K and 13K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Jones County and Harding County have the lowest number of coronavirus cases in South Dakota. Together with the latter ones, Potter County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your county has a low number of COVID-19 positive people, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
