Since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the U.S., the infection has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 62 people per mi2 (24 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall count of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 1,8K today, Otsego County still has the lowest count of cases and fatal cases in the state of New York.
Suffolk County and Nassau County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 127K and 114K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Hamilton County and Schuyler County have the lowest count of COVID-19 cases in New York. Together with the latter ones, Otsego County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your county has a low number of COVID-19 positive people, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
