Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 53 people per mi2 (20 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 6,3K today, Schoharie County still has the lowest count of cases and fatal cases in the state of New York.

Suffolk County and Nassau County are the state's leaders in coronavirus patients with 534K and 518K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Hamilton County and Schuyler County have the lowest count of coronavirus patients in New York. Together with the latter ones, Schoharie County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your area has a low number of COVID-19 positive people, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
