Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the outbreak has hit all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 30 people per mi2 (11 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of confirmed cases has risen up to 1,6K today, Edgar County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of Illinois.
Cook County and DuPage County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 477K and 78K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Pope County and Hardin County have the lowest count of confirmed cases in Illinois. Together with the latter ones, Edgar County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your county has a low number of coronavirus cases, the virus is still active. Please remain vigilant and keep up with good hygiene practices.
