Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 45 people per mi2 (17 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of COVID-19 positive people has risen up to 51 today, Lawrence County still has the lowest number of cases and deaths in the state of Illinois.

Cook County and Lake County are the state's leaders in coronavirus cases with 113K and 13K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Stark County and Calhoun County have the lowest number of coronavirus cases in Illinois. Together with the latter ones, Lawrence County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your region has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
