Since the first coronavirus patient was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has affected all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 21 people per mi2 (8 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of confirmed cases has increased up to 1,5K today, Scott County still has the lowest number of cases and fatal cases in the state of Illinois.

Cook County and DuPage County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 1,4M and 274K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Pope County and Putnam County have the lowest count of COVID-19 cases in Illinois. Together with the latter ones, Scott County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.

Please note, even if your region has a low number of COVID-19 cases, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
