Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the outbreak has affected all 50 states. However, some regions have coped to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 39 people per mi2 (15 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of coronavirus cases has reached 5,4K today, Calaveras County still has the lowest count of cases and fatalities in the state of California.

Los Angeles County and San Diego County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 2,2M and 595K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Alpine County and Sierra County have the lowest count of COVID-19 cases in California.
