Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have coped to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 3 people per mi2 (1 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the overall number of coronavirus cases has reached 310 today, Sierra County still has the lowest count of cases and fatalities in the state of California.
Los Angeles County and San Diego County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 cases with 2,8M and 767K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Alpine County and Modoc County have the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in California. Together with the latter ones, Sierra County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your county has a low number of coronavirus patients, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
