Since the first coronavirus case was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has hit all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 3 people per mi2 (1 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total number of COVID-19 positive people has reached 99 today, Sierra County still has the lowest count of cases and deaths in the state of California.
Los Angeles County and Riverside County are the state's leaders in coronavirus cases with 1,2M and 289K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Alpine County and Trinity County have the lowest count of coronavirus cases in California. Together with the latter ones, Sierra County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
Please note, even if your area has a low number of COVID-19 positive people, the virus is still active. Please stay vigilant and continue with good hygiene practices.
