Since the first COVID-19 positive person was confirmed in the U.S., the virus has affected all 50 states. However, some regions have managed to keep the numbers low.
The population density in the county is 24 people per mi2 (9 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total count of coronavirus cases has increased up to 18K today, Tuolumne County still has the lowest number of cases and fatalities in the state of California.
Los Angeles County and San Diego County are the state's leaders in COVID-19 positive people with 3,7M and 1,1M patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Alpine County and Sierra County have the lowest number of COVID-19 positive people in California. Together with the latter ones, Tuolumne County’s per capita infection rate is regarded below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
