Since the first coronavirus patient was confirmed in the U.S., the disease has affected all 50 states. However, some areas have managed to keep the numbers low.

The population density in the county is 2 people per mi2 (0 people per km2) so the risk of infection is below average. Even though the total number of COVID-19 positive people has reached 573 today, Modoc County still has the lowest number of cases and fatalities in the state of California.

Los Angeles County and Riverside County are the state's leaders in confirmed cases with 1,3M and 304K patients with confirmed infection accordingly, while Alpine County and Sierra County have the lowest count of confirmed cases in California. Together with the latter ones, Modoc County’s per capita infection rate is considered below average, but the coronavirus still remains a threat to public safety.
